Mushroom Growing

A hands-on hobby in home mycology, growing oyster mushrooms from spawn to harvest using a small, controlled grow environment.

Cluster of home-grown oyster mushrooms

Oyster mushrooms are one of the most approachable species for home cultivation. Grown in a humidity- and temperature- controlled tent with an incubator rack for fruiting blocks, they reward patience with dense, ruffled clusters within a few weeks.

The process blends careful environmental monitoring — tracking humidity with a hygrometer, managing airflow, and controlling temperature — with the simple satisfaction of watching something grow from nearly nothing.

It's a small-scale example of the same curiosity that drives FuzzyOwl's science work: set up the right conditions, observe carefully, and let the process unfold.
